Ahoy There, Sailor! Part Four

Just a quick post to show you all the fabulous nautical get up in Follow the Fleet (1936). Ginger Rogers is stunning in her glamorous version of a sailor suit and Fred Astaire is dashing, as always! I love these two together, watching them dance always puts a smile on my face, they were just so wonderful.

  1. Oh how I loved this and all the Fred and Ginger movies once upon a time. Amazing escapism, beautiful sets and costumes and dancing. Wonderful music by fantastic composers. I’m more a dark, noir girl nowadays, having ever less patience for the romance elements. And then I read too much about Ginger and her hardcore right-wing perspectives… Ah well, I can’t watch Woody Allen anymore either!

    • I’m more of a dark, noir girl myself these days, too, but when I’m feeling blue, I still love a good musical, and watching Fred and Ginger dance always cheers me up. 🙂

Ouch! I hadn’t known about Ginger’s hardcore right-wing leanings, I’m going to have to look into that! :/

I’ve had a personal ban on Woody Allen for at least a decade now, myself. I know some of his movies are supposed to be “must-sees” and that in that sense, I’m probably missing out, but I refuse to support the career of a man who has done monstrous things to others, especially children. The list of actors, directors, etc, that I’m personally boycotting is getting longer and longer as the months and years go by!

Thank you so much for commenting! 🙂
