Appreciation for The Mysterious Mind of Edward Gorey

I have loved Edward Gorey’s illustrations and stories for as long as I can remember. He had such a wonderfully beautiful yet morbid artistic style that was thrilling even to an eight year old. My mom had some of his books and I just loved to read them and look at all of the amazing artwork.

And then, of course, there was this:

Don’t you just love it?

Did you know that he wrote and illustrated a story about the Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, the truly evil duo behind the Moors Murders? True crime buffs should track down his story, The Loathsome Couple.

Someday I would love to be able to visit the Edward Gorey House! Anyone reading this who happens to live near Yarmouth Port, MA should make sure to make a trip to this marvelous museum!
