The other day I made this little dress for my niece for Christmas. I used a vintage Simplicity pattern from 1976: Simplicity 7367.
Ouch, that center back seam! Unfortunately pattern matching was not possible due to the very small amount of this fabric I had on hand. Sorry the photos are so dark by the way, it has been gloomy and grey out for days, so hard to get good lighting in this already dark apartment.
Inspired by Cate from one of my favourite blogs, vintage gal, I decided to make this dress as ethically as I possibly could: the fabric was bought second hand at a fabric flea market this spring, the thread was also bought second hand at one of my favourite thrift stores, the lace and snaps were from my stash, and actually, the pattern is vintage and from the thrift store as well! 🙂
I love the adorable little girls on this fabric, they remind me of my niece – cute as a button! I wanted to use a pattern where the fabric would take centre stage, so I picked this one, and I added the lace just for added visual interest. I really hope my niece likes the dress! And I hope you like it too!
