Nothing like watching these old videos on a Sunday morning, it’s one of my favourite ways to relax after a long week, so today I will be sharing some with you.
First off is Habit Patterns, from 1954, in which poor Barbara just can’t seem to do anything right and gets berated throughout by the narrator.
Seriously, Poor Barbara! As someone who has always felt awkward, self-conscious and not as well “put together” as others, I feel for this kid. The scolding tone of the narrator throughout really is something else. Don’t worry, Barbara, I’ll be your gal pal! They really did try to shame girls into “perfection” in this video, huh?
Next, Good Grooming for Girls, from 1946, which I watched late last night. It made me laugh, but the clothes are to die for and it really is fabulous to watch.
And last but not least, a 1930’s Make Up and Skin Care guide, starring Constance Bennett, that is so filled with 1930’s glamour it hurts.
Oh, to step into Miss Bennett’s luxurious, swoon-worthy life for just a week! Minus the man drama and related stress, of course.
Well, that’s it for now, so like Miss Bennett, I will end by wishing you “loads and loads of loveliness, and good luck!”
